A Good Turnout for the Army Cricket Women’s Inter-Corps Competition

By May 5, 2022 No Comments

The inaugural Army Women’s Inter-Corps Competition took place at Aldershot on 28 – 29 Apr 22.

The first day consisted of training and several complete novices were introduced to the basic skills of cricket (bowling, batting and fielding) along with tactics and game play. Early talent shone through with great enthusiasm being displayed throughout the day.  The day ended with some competitive mini Kwik Cricket matches which allowed the players to practice their new found skills and tactics.

Friday was tournament day and 5 strong Corps teams took each other on, in a day filled with beautiful (and, in some cases, innovative) cricket, enthusiasm and morale.

Congratulations to our Women’s Inter-Corps 8s 2022 winners – a combined REME/AGC/RE side who displayed a strong range of cricketing talent to win a competitive final.  Presentations were made to the winning team by the President of Army Cricket, Maj Gen Jez Bennett.  A brilliant turn out of new and experienced players, will, hopefully, lead into a very successful 2022 summer season as the Army Ladies seek to retain their 2 Inter-Services titles from last year. Thank you to our umpires and coaches for all their time and effort over the last two days. What a great few days of cricket!
